KOTAMOBAGU – The Kotamobagu Police Sector (Polsek) led by AKP Noldy Rimporok officially handed over the suspect in the case of receiving fiduciary objects, NFM alias Dil (24), a resident of Mongondow Village, South Kotamobagu District, to the Kotamobagu District Attorney's Office on Friday (14/3/2025).
The handover of the suspect to the prosecutor's office (Phase II) is a follow-up to the police report number LP/B/75/XI/2024/SPKT/Sek-Ktg/Res-Ktg/Polda Sulut which was made on November 20, 2024 by a financing institution in Kotamobagu.
From the results of the investigation by the Kotamobagu Police Criminal Investigation Unit, the suspect NFM had a unique modus operandi by posting an advertisement on social media that read "looking for a motorbike, continue to deposit". This mode succeeded in attracting the attention of vehicle owners who were having difficulty paying their motorbike credit installments.
One of the victims, AM alias Am (42), a resident of Mongkonai, West Kotamobagu District, sold a Honda Vario CBS motorbike that was still on credit to the suspect for Rp6,000,000.
The suspect convinced the victim that he would continue the motorbike installments to the finance company. To further convince the victim, the suspect submitted a photocopy of his ID card, family card, and signature on a stamp as proof of commitment.
However, instead of continuing the installment payments, the suspect actually resold the motorbike to someone else for a profit of around Rp800,000 to Rp1 million without the leasing company's approval.
From the results of the investigation, it turned out that the suspect had been carrying out this illegal practice for quite some time. At least 15 motorbikes have changed hands with the same pattern, causing losses to various different financing institutions.
The Kotamobagu Police Chief, AKBP Irwanto, SIK, MH, through the Head of Public Relations AKP I Dewa Dwiadnyana, confirmed the process of handing over stage II to the suspect for receiving fiduciary objects.
Kotamobagu Police Chief, AKP Noldy Rimporok, emphasized that the suspect's actions were very disturbing, especially for financing institutions that suffered losses.
"We appeal to all financing institutions or finance institutions that feel disadvantaged by the suspect to immediately report to the Kotamobagu Police. We will take firm action without tolerance against perpetrators of fiduciary crimes in accordance with applicable laws," said AKP Noldy Rimporok.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Financing Companies Association (APPI) of Kotamobagu, Yohanis Batara Randa, appreciated the quick steps of the Kotamobagu Police in handling this case.
"We are very grateful to the Kotamobagu Police for their efforts in uncovering and arresting the perpetrator. Hopefully this will be a lesson for the public to be more careful and provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators who try to carry out similar modes in the future," said Yohanis.
This case is a reminder for the public to be more careful in vehicle transactions, especially those that are still on credit, so as not to become victims of the crime of receiving fiduciary objects.
