Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — Finance company PT Adira Dinamika Multi Finance Tbk. (ADMF) sees the potential for the growth of the electric motorbike ecosystem, in line with the presence of a subsidy policy from the government.
For information, the government has hammered out the granting of electric motorbike subsidies of IDR 7 million per unit starting March 20, 2023. The quota is divided into 200,000 units for new motorbikes and 50,000 units for convertible motorbikes.
MSMEs are the preferred party to receive the subsidy. Meanwhile, only electric motor manufacturers that already have a domestic component level (TKDN) above 40 percent can participate in this subsidy.
Adira Finance Portfolio Director Harry Latif explained that the provision of electric motorbike subsidies was a breath of fresh air to stimulate the automotive industry, thereby helping to boost the performance of electric vehicle financing in general.
"We certainly welcome it. The subsidies are expected to increase sales and new financing of electric vehicles in 2023 in line with increasing public enthusiasm for environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as the availability of various brands of electric vehicles," he told Bisnis, Tuesday (14/3/2023).
As an illustration, throughout 2022 Adira Finance will distribute financing for electric vehicles of IDR 29.6 billion, including electric cars, electric motorcycles, and electric bicycles. This year, the issuer coded ADMF estimates that it will be able to boost the distribution of electric vehicle financing to Rp. 60-70 billion, or an increase of 2-3 times.
Adira Finance sees public interest in electric vehicles starting to grow, influenced by increasing public understanding of the importance of the concept of green living, the addition of electric vehicle battery charging infrastructure by the government, as well as the emergence of several electric vehicle manufacturers that provide various brands.
"Therefore, currently Adira Finance has provided financing facilities for 16 electric motorcycle brands. It is hoped that in the future public interest will continue to increase to boost sales of electric vehicles in the country," added Harry.
