KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk is committed to continuing to encourage environmentally friendly vehicle financing through its subsidiary PT CIMB Niaga Auto Finance (CNAF).
Until August 2022, CNAF has financed 91 environmentally friendly cars with a value of Rp 34 billion. This achievement has doubled from the same period the previous year.
"In the same period in 2021, CNAF has only financed 48 units of electric vehicles or Rp. 16.5 billion," said President Director of PT CIMB Niaga Auto Finance, Ristiawan Suherman, to Kontan.co.id, Tuesday (20/9).
CNAF sees that public interest in the use of electric cars will be higher so that it will have a positive impact in encouraging financing in this sector.
Ristiawan said the public's attention and interest was starting to turn towards the ownership of electric cars or environmentally friendly cars in line with the government's campaign to accelerate the transfer of public transportation modes, from exhaust emission-based transportation modes to environmentally friendly transportation modes and supported by the increase in fuel prices. which is quite high.
However, he sees the challenge of using electric cars in the country is still big, namely how to prepare integrated infrastructure and ecosystems. According to him, collaboration of many parties is needed to unravel this challenge.
"The role of the government and electricity companies such as PLN is also the main key so that this eco-friendly vehicle ecosystem and infrastructure can be built," said Ristiawan.
Until the end of the year, CNAF targets the financing of environmentally friendly vehicles to reach Rp 60 billion, a double increase from last year.
